Twinkle Twinkle Little Star – History
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, described "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" as a popular English lullaby. The lyrics are from an early-19th-century English poem by Jane Taylor, The Star.
The poem (I didn’t know it was originally a poem), which
is in couplet form, was first published in 1806 in Rhymes for the Nursery, a collection
of poems by Jane Taylor and her sister Ann.
The song is in the public domain and has many adaptations around the world.
The English lyrics, below, was first written as a poem by Jane Taylor (1783–1824) and published with the title "The Star" in ‘Rhymes for the Nursery’ by Jane and her sister Ann Taylor (1782–1866) in London in 1806:
Twinkle twinkle, little star,
How I wonder what you are!
Up above the world so high,
Like a diamond in the sky.
When the blazing sun is gone,
When he nothing shines upon,

Nursery Rhyme Analyses

Dr. Don Vescio’s analysis on this famous nursery rhyme says that the poem or song; ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ has a deeper meaning to it than just a song about making a wish. The line "Up above the world so high" shows a sign of power and opportunity. Also, it proves that politics think they are above typical people and therefore think that they are more powerful than other people. Whereas the line "How I wonder what you are!" shows that many people don't know what happens in politics and power because they are so shady about what happens.
The above analysis is so political; hope we can find another interpretation. But what can we do if Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’s lyrics are from the early-19th-century where major part of several reform movements sought to promote basic changes in American society, including the abolition of slavery, education reform, prison reform and women's rights.
Children Songs with Similar Melody
The three sets of lyrics for children that all share a common melody are the ABC Song, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and Baa Baa Black Sheep. These are all variations of a 1761 French melody called Ah vous dirais-je, Maman by Bouin. Many people think Mozart composed this melody.
